How To Be More Productive
Jul 25, 2023Introduction
Running your own business can be a lot of work. There are so many things to keep track of, and it can be hard to stay on top of everything. But if you want your business to be successful, it's important to be productive and keep things moving forward.
In this blog post, I will share some tips on how to be more productive in your business. I will also discuss the importance of self-accountability and how to stay on track with your goals. At the end of the day as self-employed people we're often only accountable to ourselves. One way that I exercise tapas (a yogic principal meaning 'fire' or 'discipline') in my work is by sticking to the goals I've created for myself. It's so easy to make excuses but when we do what we say we are going to do self-trust develops.
Tips for Productivity
- Focus on income-generating activities. One of the best ways to be productive in your business is to make money and you're more likely to do this if you focus on income-generating activities. This means doing things that will directly lead to making money for your business.
Some examples of income-generating activities include:
- Having conversations with potential customers about your products or services.
- Providing consulting services (giving your time and expertise where it's valuable and paid for).
- Creating content (such as digital products) that you can then sell (in other words don't spend too much time creating content for platforms such as social media that you can't then monetise).
- Eliminate distractions. Easier said than done! This means turning off your phone, closing your email, and working in a quiet space.
When you are focused on a task, it's important to eliminate anything that could take your attention away from it. This will help you to get more done in less time.
- Set deadlines for yourself. As mentioned above one of the best ways to stay on track with your work is to set deadlines for yourself. This will help you to stay motivated and avoid procrastination.
When you have a deadline, you are more likely to focus on the task at hand and get it done.
- Take breaks. It's also important to take breaks when you are working. This will help you to stay refreshed and avoid burnout.
Get up and move around every 20-30 minutes, or take a longer break every few hours. This will help you to stay focused and productive.
The Importance of Accountability
It's also important to be accountable for your actions. This means setting goals and tracking your progress.
When you have goals, you are more likely to stay on track and achieve them. And when you track your progress, you can see how you are doing and make adjustments as needed.
Conclusion
Being productive is essential for running a successful business. By following the tips in this blog post, you can be more productive and keep your business moving forward. So many of us have a lot on our plates, at some point to move forward our businesses have to become a priority.
